As India is poised to venture into the Amrit Kaal, New energy vehicles, including electric vehicles and hybrids, are gaining significant traction in India, play a significant role. These initiatives aim to address pressing environmental challenges and promote sustainable development in the country. Under the vision of Amrit Kaal – the government’s emphasis is on promoting sustainable transportation through various policy frameworks and initiatives such as the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles (FAME) scheme have been announced for faster adoption of new energy vehicles.
The need for new energy vehicles (NEVs) stems from environmental concerns, fossil fuel dependence, climate change mitigation, technological advancements, and public health benefits. By transitioning to NEVs, particularly EVs, India can significantly reduce harmful emissions and promote cleaner transportation options.
The Indian automobile industry has responded to this shift by introducing a wide range of electric and hybrid models, including cars, two-wheelers, and public transportation options. Additionally, the development of charging infrastructure across major cities and highways is further supporting the growth of new energy vehicles in India. As a result, more and more Indian consumers are embracing these vehicles as a cleaner and more sustainable mode of transportation.
As India marches towards a sustainable future, the prospects for NEVs look promising. The government’s ambitious target of achieving 30% electrification of the automotive industry by 2030 has spurred significant investment and innovation in the sector. Domestic manufacturing of NEVs is expected to grow, generating employment opportunities, and strengthening the economy. Technological advancements in battery technology, longer driving ranges, and decreasing prices are making NEVs increasingly attractive to Indian consumers.
In this program, ICA India works towards promoting copper’s excellent conductivity and durability which makes it essential for EV components, including electric motors, wiring harness, and connectors. It is also vital for charging infrastructure, enabling efficient power transfer in charging cables and connectors. ICA India collaborates with stakeholders, advocates for favourable policies, raises awareness and supports research to advance new energy vehicles and build a cleaner future.
