With growing concerns about increasing pollution levels from greenhouse gas emissions and its deleterious impact on global climate the world is moving towards exploring alternative renewable sources of energy. Energy derived from naturally replenishing sources such as sunlight, wind, water, and geothermal heat is referred to as renewable energy and offers a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels, with minimal environmental impact. By helping reduce greenhouse gas emissions, mitigate climate change, and decrease air pollution levels, renewable energy contributes to a cleaner and healthier environment. Transitioning to renewable energy is crucial for a sustainable future, ensuring a resilient and thriving planet for future generations.

India aims for 500 GW of renewable energy installed capacity by 2030 and has currently installed a total renewable energy capacity of 177.74 GW (as of July 2023) with an additional 105.29 GW in the pipeline (as of July 2023).

Copper being an essential component for various renewable energy technologies has a significant role in enhancing the generation and usage of renewable energy across sectors. It is used extensively in constructing solar panels, wind turbines, and electrical wiring systems due to its superior electrical conductivity and other mechanical properties.

Keeping in mind that renewable energy contributes 28% to achieving India’s net zero goals, the organization actively advocates for policies that promote the adoption and expansion of renewable energy technologies in India. ICA India is also actively involved in facilitating knowledge sharing through reports, whitepapers, awareness campaigns.

WHAT WE DO

By promoting and supporting the usage of renewable energy, ICA India aims to contribute to building a sustainable and energy secure India.
